I don't know how to do cheer or gymnastics.
Okay. That is what Coach Carter was hired for. To teach and train the sport of cheerleading. If you are interested in joining the team, JOIN THE TEAM and become a cheerleader.
I'm too scared to join.
No need to feel scared honestly. It's understandable to be scared but you don't have to be. As long as you practice with passion, you will do great! You control how everyone sees us. And if you want to look good, we as a team need dedication to practicing and improving!
I heard that Crush is hard.
First and foremost, it would be wise not listen to others and allowing them to determine what you can or can not do. Secondly, Crush is only hard to those that don't have the passion to be a true athlete of GHS. All GHS athletics have a form of improvement and growth. Crush is one of them.
Do I really have to tryout?
Yes. Sorry if this makes you uncomfortable. However, tryouts are very important to ensure we are building a team of members ready to work and produce a successful spirit squad!
Tryouts are a lot easier than you think. More have made the team then not. If you REALLY WANT TO BECOME A CHEERLEADER, NOTHING WILL STOP YOU! And Coach Carter will definitely help you become one.
How to Tryout:
1. Crush Squad Annual Cheer Clinic
Every year, Crush Squad hosts a cheer clinic to introduce new potentials to the wide world of cheer & stunt. It's a 3-day clinic with each day teaching a new skill. After the clinic, prospects have the option to tryout for the team. This is not mandatory but beneficial to aid in getting scores high enough for membership. For Clinic information, click here. Your tryout session will be private. No one will see you tryout. You can tryout alone or with another tryout applicant. Must have an updated physical submitted to school nurse before participation.
